Re: Louisiana Tourism Recovery Program
The City of Harahan, Jefferson Parish, and Louisiana
would appreciate the opportunity to have a positive,
measurable impact on Louisiana tourism.
The City of Harahan, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana
respectfully makes this application to the Louisiana
Office of Tourism for funds allocated through the
Louisiana Tourism Recovery Program.
It is in the interest of the City of Harahan to
increase the positive perceptions of our City,
Parish and State.
As an individual community, Harahan is rich in
tradition and history. Harahan creates a positive
perception of Louisiana having won several awards
and recognitions as Tree and Clean City.
The City of Harahan proposes an event to take place
in either the 3rd, 4th or 7th
quarter of activity.
The City of Harahan anticipates expenses of $35,
000.00 (Thirty-five Thousand Dollars) in order to
put on this event.
The planned event would take place at the Harahan
Recreational Facility including Gym.
The event
will be presented as:
The Harahan, Louisiana Seafood Concert
Featuring
the Battle of the Bands
Bucktown vs. Zydeco
the Bucktown Allstars v. Rockin Doopsie
Bucktown:
known for centuries for its excellent seafood.
Zydeco: music with its accordion and washboard
instruments.
Zydeco is a genre that has become synonymous with
the cultural and musical identity of Louisiana and
an important part of the musical landscape of the
United States; this southern music tradition has
also achieved much wider appreciation. There are
multiple hotbeds of Zydeco: Louisiana, Texas,
Oregon, California and Europe.
Zydeco music has followers from throughout the State
and Country.
The City of Harahan has a rich tradition of
excellent seafood eateries. Ten to twelve Harahan
Seafood Restaurants would be able to sell multiple
assortments of cooked seafood from seafood booths
throughout the Recreational Facility. Beer and soft
drinks would be sold.
This event will be highlighted through media
publishing and other public relation forums.
Specific measures will be used to track the positive
impact of this event; namely
* number of people attending
*amount of seafood dishes served
* Pictures of the event
* Number of drinks sold |
